Hello!! I am studying American Sign Language (ASL) because I thought that it is a good skill to have and also helps to be able to meet new people and learn more about a different culture and their norms. With learning a new language the key is to practice as much as you can, and also find people that use the same language so that you can practice together. It’s okay if you do not understand everything right away, practice makes progress!! Outside of learning ASL I also speak some French (I took French immersion from JK/SK all the way to grade 12). Most of my hobbies include but are not limited to cross-country skiing and running, basketball, soccer, reading, hiking, canoeing/kayaking, fishing/hunting, and visual arts (painting, drawing).
Why do you think it’s important to study a language?
I think its very important to learn a new language because it gives you the ability to communicate with other people and learn more about their culture(s), norms, music, and art. It allows you to see the world from another perspective.
