Bio:
Quimey Martinez Magarzo is a criminal lawyer from the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina). She holds a Master’s in Human Rights and Social Policies from the University of General San Mart铆n (Argentina), and a Master’s in Criminology and Criminal Law Sociology from the University of Barcelona (Spain). Her research focused on the judicial system and its production of institutional gender violence against women, lesbians, and travesti-transgender people. She is currently a PhD student in the Department of Law and Legal Studies at 杏吧原创 University. Her doctoral research examines how feminist movements mobilize and contest the law in relation to incarceration, in comparative perspective between Argentina and Canada. She holds a Canada Graduate Research Scholarship鈥擠octoral (CGRS D) from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), and a fellowship from the Prison Transparency Project (PTP). She has worked for fifteen years in Argentina’s national judiciary and has been an activist in human rights and the feminist movement. She is also a researcher at the University of Jos茅 C. Paz (Argentina). Her research interests include feminist organizations, the use of law as a tool for social transformation, penal systems, bodies, and confinement.
