We Create Consent: Strategies for Preventing and Responding to Sexual Violence Module 
Available to students in September 2026.
In the online, asynchronous sexual violence prevention module, students will explore the following key concepts: Â
- What gender-based and sexual violence entails
- Consent as a daily practice  
- How to be an active bystander  
- How to respond with care when someone discloses an experience of sexual violence
- Available resources on and off campus 
At the end of the module, students will be able to: 
- Define gender-based violence and sexual violence, including different forms (e.g., harassment, assault, coercion, online abuse) 
- Identify how power and social identities impact people’s experience of gender-based and sexual violence 
- Deepen understanding of consent and differentiate between consent, coercion, pressure, and manipulation in everyday situations 
- Demonstrate ways to communicate and respect boundaries in relationships and social settings 
- Explain the role and importance of an active bystander in preventing sexual and gender-based violence
- Apply a range of safe bystander intervention strategies (e.g., direct, distract, delegate, delay) 
- Practice the steps to provide a supportive response to a disclosure of sexual violence 
- Identify available on-campus and off-campus resources for survivors of sexual violence
