Canada’s next-generation geospatial leaders made their mark this summer at the CCMEO Student Hackathon: Building Resilience with GEO.ca.

This national competition challenged students to develop geospatial solutions for real-world emergency response and resilience challenges.

After a month of innovation, coding, and analysis, the winners were announced live in Ottawa. Second Place was awarded to Abdul Mutakabbir, a PhD student in ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´â€™s DSAAI program, for his project “Heuristics for Forest Fires”—an application that visualizes changes in land cover caused by forest fires.

Congratulations to Abdul on this outstanding achievement!
