Page Templates

Page templates allow you to change how an individual page is displayed without changing the page’s content.

Most pages in cuTheme should use the Default template. However, additional templates may be available for pages that require a specific layout or behaviour.

Choosing a page template

To change the template used by a page:

  1. Open the page you want to edit in WordPress.
  2. Open the Page settings sidebar.
  3. Find the Template setting.
  4. Select the current template to view the available options.
  5. Choose the template you want to use.
  6. Save or Update the page.

The selected template controls how WordPress displays the page on the website. Changing the template does not replace or remove the content you have added in the editor.

Default template

The Default template is the standard template used by cuTheme and should be used for most pages.

Unless your page has a specific requirement that is supported by another available template, leave this option set to Default template.

Other page templates

Depending on the site and the features available in cuTheme, additional templates may appear in the Template menu.

For example, the Archived Content template can be selected for a page that needs the presentation provided by that template.

Each template may change how the page is presented or provide behaviour intended for a particular type of content.

Tip: Only select a different template when the purpose of the template matches the page you are creating. For a standard content page, use the Default template.

Changing a template

You can change the template assigned to an existing page at any time.

Changing the template changes how the page is displayed, but the content created in the WordPress editor remains associated with the page.

After changing a template, preview the page to make sure the content works as expected with the new layout.
