CRIW Announces Recipient of its 2021/2022 Graduate Student Bursary
The Centre for Research on Inclusion at Work (CRIW) today announced the recipient of its 2020/2021 Graduate Student Bursary. Funded by KPMG, CRIW鈥檚 Graduate Student Bursary supports students who are entering or continuing in a graduate degree program within the Sprott School of Business and are studying issues around workplace diversity and inclusion.
This year鈥檚 recipient of CRIW鈥檚 Graduate Student Bursary is Saquib Shahriar, a doctoral student at the Sprott School of Business at 杏吧原创 University.
Saquib will research how culture affects women鈥檚 representation in corporate boards in developed countries. The main objective is to see how culture plays into promoting women into top management/ board of directors and how that in turn, affects corporate governance and firm performance. In addition, he would like to research and see how culture affects the risk-taking behavior of firms with gender-diverse boards in developed countries.
Saquib will be conducting his study under the supervision of Dr. Isaac Otchere, Professor of Finance at the Sprott School of Business.
