The Globalink Research Award G7 AI Adoption Call will support academic collaborations and researcher mobility between Canada and G7 countries. It reflects Canada鈥檚 commitment to advancing AI leadership within the G7, with a focus on research that is both globally competitive and domestically translatable.

This call prioritizes high-quality academic research in artificial intelligence while encouraging pathways that enable the translation of research into real-world applications. We encourage projects that contribute to advancing foundational and applied AI knowledge and that may demonstrate the potential to support adoption by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This is not a requirement for applying; rather it is considered an asset.

Eligibility

  • Available exclusively to Full Members as a membership benefit.
  • Applicants must meet standard Globalink Research Award eligibility requirements.
  • Eligible for bilateral travel between Canada and G7 countries:
    • Canadian applicants traveling to an eligible G7 country (UK, Japan, France, US, Germany, Italy).
    • Collaborators from an eligible G7 country traveling to Canada.
  • Projects may include up to 5 interns, with a maximum of 2 Internship Units (IUs) per intern (subject to applicable lifetime limits).

Funding

  • Award Value: $6,000 per internship unit (IU).
  • Funds are released following the standard Mitacs Globalink Research Award process.
  • These represent additional IUs outside the standard allocation stream.

Deadlines

  • Application Basis: First-come, first-served.
  • Once a sufficient number of applications are received to fully allocate the available IUs, the call will close. Interested parties are strongly encouraged to apply early.

How to Apply

  • Delivered through the standard Mitacs Globalink Research Award program.
  • Interested applicants should coordinate through their institution and submit via the standard Mitacs GRA application process.

Additional Details

  • Supports AI-focused research collaborations and researcher mobility initiatives between Canada and G7 partner nations.
