Thenewly launched De Chastelain Scholarship Programme, supported by the Governments of Ireland and Canada, offers awards of up to CAD $16,500to support short research visits (3–6 weeks) between Canada and Ireland.

The programme is open toresearchers and academics across all disciplines. While it is framed around peace and reconciliation, this is understood in its broadest sense — including the wider systems that underpin stable, thriving societies (e.g. governance, health, environment, culture, technology, and more).

Eighteen scholarships will be awarded each year, and through a single application process, awards are made to both Emerging Scholars(within seven years of PhD) and Established Scholars, with a significant proportion reserved for emerging researchers.

Eligibility

  • Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • hold a PhD,or demonstrate an established academic or research practice of equivalent standing
  • employed, enrolled, or otherwise formally affiliated with a recognised university

Funding

Each awardee will receive:

  • CAD $3,000 / € 1,875as a contribution towards all transport costs associated with the visit — including international flights, airport transfers, local transport.
  • CAD $2,250 / €1,400 per week of scholarship(for up to 6 weeks), as a contribution to address accommodation, meals, meetings, and other incidental expenses during the visit.

Deadlines

  • Application and all supporting documents must be submitted online by the deadline:Monday, 11th May 2026at 2300 hrs GMT / 1800 hrs EST.
  • If successful and awarded a scholarship, travel must be completed by30th June 2027.

Opportunities Available

  • For a 5-month research stay
  • To take place between September 2026 and July 2027
  • A letter of invitation from a host is not required for the application

Funding

Selected candidates will receive a paid daily allowance and travel costs up to a certain amount. The subsistence allowance is 850 Euros per month and Travel is covered up to 1188 Euros.

GRI pairs professors in Canada with top senior international undergrads for 12-week research projects from May to October.

The Globalink program builds international networks and positions Canada as a top research and innovation destination for emerging talent around the world.

  • Top-ranked senior undergrads travel from around the world.
  • Faculty can submit multiple projects.

In order to be eligible for hosting interns as part of the Globalink Research Internship program, Faculty must:

  1. Have one of the following statuses at an eligible institution: Full professor, Associate professor, Assistant professor, Adjunct professor, Emeritus professor.
  2. Be able to supervise international students at your institution.
  3. Be able to host interns within the stipulated dates of the GRI program’s required timeframe. Internships must begin between May 1 and July 31 and run for 12 consecutive weeks.

The Mitacs – Horizon Europe IMA is designed to support Canadian faculty and eligible small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the early stages of consortium-building and proposal development under Horizon Europe Pillar II. This offering will provide short-term funding to facilitate travel and in-person engagement with European collaborators – addressing a well-recognized barrier to meaningful participation in one of the globe’s largest research funding frameworks.

Applications must be submitted by two travelers, either a pair of faculty members from different post-secondary institutions or a faculty member and a representative from a Canadian industry SME. Applications must not include more than two travelers. There are no restrictions on academic disciplines or industry sectors however, fields must align with Horizon Europe calls for proposals and/or corresponding European research consortia.

Eligibility

Full-time faculty members. Applications must be submitted by two travelers, either a pair of faculty members from different post-secondary institutions or a faculty member and a representative from a Canadian industry SME.

Funding Available

Awards will be valued at up to CAD $5,000 per traveler (maximum $10,000 per award).

Academics Without Borders (AWB) is a Canadian nonprofit organization. Its mission is to help
low and middle-income countries improve their universities so that they can train their own
experts and conduct research to assist in their countries’ development. AWB’s projects are
involved in the full range of university activities from expanding and improving existing
institutions and programs to helping create new ones. AWB fulfills its mission through volunteers
who collaborate on projects that originate in and are owned by institutions in low and middle
income countries (LMICs).

AWB is looking to develop and support projects that enable volunteer experts to engage in
capacity-building activities at institutions of higher education in low or middle-income countries
(ѱ’s).

Eligibility

Applications may be submitted by a faculty or staff member at one of the universities and
colleges in the AWB Network in collaboration with a partner institution of higher
education in a low or middle-income country.

Funding Available

Expenses covered by AWB may include:
● Economy air travel, airport transfers, in-transit costs for hotels and meals
● Medical and travel insurance
● Visa fees
● Required vaccinations and medications
● A stipend for the volunteer’s living expenses

● Other costs may also be considered to facilitate volunteer involvement with the project,
especially for projects implemented virtually.

The BIP includes a 2 month virtual course (March 16 – May 1) and a 2 week in-country field school (July 6-17). The program is offered by the Colombia Challenge Your Knowledge (CCYK) consortium and is available to CCYK partners, including the Canada and Latin America Research & Exchange Opportunities () consortium in Canada. As a member of CALAREO, Ӱԭ undergraduate students as well as faculty/staff may apply to the program by completing the Google form at . (Canadian applicants should not apply directly to CCYK). The internal application deadline is January 28, 2026.

Anyone may participate in the free virtual course. To be able to participate in the field school, the virtual course must be completed. There is a program fee of USD $500 for the field school. Please note that to participate in the field school, health insurance that includes repatriation is mandatory.

Funded by ICETEX, travel scholarships are available through CCYK for 2 students and 1 faculty/staff member for all of CALAREO. CALAREO will contribute an additional 2 scholarships. Scholarships will cover international and domestic transportation, accommodations, and meals. Applicants who do not receive a scholarship may still participate if they can self-fund.

The Ontario/Baden-Württemberg Faculty Research Exchange offers grants to support research visits to universities in the German state of Baden-Württemberg by faculty members at participating Ontario universities. While the objective is both to promote new collaborative research partnerships and to strengthen existing partnerships between researchers in Ontario and Baden-Württemberg, applications proposing new partnerships are particularly welcome.

The present competition is for grants to support research stays between May 1, 2026 and April 30, 2027. OBW Faculty Research Exchange grants will support researchers for a minimum of one month and a maximum of six months at the host university. Researchers who wish to stay longer than six months are still eligible to participate, but the maximum fundable period will be restricted to six months.

  • full-time faculty members holding tenured or tenure-track appointments at an Ontario university

Horizon Europe Partnership Development Grant 2026 /ci/2025/horizon-europe-partnership-development-grant-2/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=horizon-europe-partnership-development-grant-2 Thu, 20 Nov 2025 15:01:50 +0000 /ci/?p=26760 The Horizon Europe Partnership Development Grant is an internal funding program that supports Ӱԭ faculty members in developing networks or partnerships towards submitting a project with a consortium to a Horizon Europe Pillar II call for proposals. Funds can be used for developing new or existing partnerships with researchers in European Union member states and “associated countries” by attending conferences, match-making events, or in-person meetings for establishing a consortium or preliminary planning for a Horizon Europe proposal. The grant does not fund research project activities with an international partner.

Ӱԭ Horizon Europe Pillar II

Horizon Europe is the European Union’s (EU) main research and innovation program and the world’s largest, with a total budget of €95.5 billion (2021-2027). Canada joined Horizon Europe in July 2024 as an associate country under Pillar II: Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness. Pillar II grant sizes typically range from €4-15 million.

Pillar II is organized into six clusters (i.e., themes); within each cluster are a number of calls for proposals with corresponding topics, which have unique criteria and deadlines. All applications must involve projects developed by a consortium (partnership of organizations across different nations, including a European member state and Horizon Europe-associated country).

Eligibility

All full-time faculty members of professional rank (Assistant, Associate, and Full) at Ӱԭ are eligible to apply.

Funding
