EU-Canada Relations Network Workshop Day 3: “Facing the Russia Challenge: European and Canadian Perspectives”

The Jean Monnet Network on Canada-EU Relations is pleased to host a multi-day online workshop, Facing the Russia Challenge: European and Canadian Perspectives, on September 29, 30 and October 6, 2022.
This workshop features presentations by scholars and experts from across Canada and the European Union. One panel on September 30th will be a hybrid format, in person at the University of Latvia and online.

The workshop is co-organized by the University of Latvia and 杏吧原创 University, where the Jean Monnet Network is housed (carleton.ca/caneunet).
Background for the workshop:
Russia鈥檚 unprovoked attack on Ukraine has turned into a war that marks the collapse of the European security system as we have known it since the end of World War II. The conflict has challenged the European Union (EU) to reinforce its capacity as a security actor, and to adopt more assertive policies to defend the geopolitical interests of the Union, its Member States, and partner countries. Some of the EU鈥檚 responses have required substantial sacrifices, particularly in the field of energy security. The workshop will explore implications of Russia鈥檚 war against Ukraine for the European Union and its Member States, as well as for Transatlantic cooperation, with particular attention to Canada鈥檚 role.
