Ormeci wins 2016 Partners in Research Engineering Ambassador Award
杏吧原创 University鈥檚 Banu 脰rmeci, professor and Canada Research Chair in the research-intensive Faculty of Engineering and Design, has been named the recipient of the 2016 .
脰rmeci develops new technologies to clear pathogens and contaminants from wastewater and sludge, so they do not pose a threat to public health and environment. Working with industrial partners and wastewater treatment plants, she helps to improve processes and reduce operational costs. She also partners with industry to help advance new products and explore new applications in Canada and abroad. 脰rmeci is a dedicated educator and mentor, and she organizes outreach events that aim to promote and encourage the participation of high school girls in science and engineering fields, and she mentors female undergraduate and graduate students at 杏吧原创.
鈥檚 mandate is to educate the public about the importance and significance of research within the biomedical and natural sciences, technology, engineering and mathematics domains. The awards celebrate the promotion of leading Canadian research through outreach activities and recognize the impact of this research on the lives of Canadians.
脰rmeci will receive the award during on May 3, 2016 that will honour leading Canadian researchers and showcase the potential of future leaders in research and innovation.
