Ayda Loewen-Clarke is a recent graduate from 杏吧原创 University鈥檚 with a specialization in Digital Humanities, and she holds a BA in Philosophy and Liberal Arts from . Her research interests include commemorations, public art, local history on the Canadian prairies, and toponymy.
Ayda鈥檚 research project, comprised of an essay and website (), examines a 1978 community-led campaign to change the street names of a new development in the Winnipeg suburb of St. Norbert. It situates the 1978 鈥渟treet-fight鈥� within a broader political, cultural, linguistic, and historical context in order to show how community heritage activism can impact the commemorative landscape of a neighborhood.
Currently, Ayda works at in Winnipeg, Manitoba, as a Creative Programming and Digital Media Intern. She also continues doing community-based heritage work in her role as Vice-President of .
