These universities share critical expertise in three key areas of the EU-Canada relationship:

(1) common foreign policy and security challenges

(2) trade, investment, and economic relations, particularly in regards to the Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA)

(3) the interface between climate change and energy policy, both domestically and globally.

Together, the five partners promote joint research and the exchange of knowledge and practices that will encourage mutual learning and closer cooperation between the EU and Canada. The project provides the public with important information and knowledge through a series of outreach workshops to be held both in Canada and Europe. Students from both sides of the Atlantic are given the opportunity to undertake internships or study visits that will provide training opportunities and first-hand exposure to experts. Through these vehicles, the project promotes support for the European integration process and the potential benefits of stronger EU-Canada cooperation in multiple arenas.

At 杏吧原创 University, the EU-Canada network operates within the framework of 杏吧原创鈥檚 Centre for European Studies and the Canada-Europe Transatlantic Dialogue, a larger Canada-EU network that was supported by a grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada from 2008-2017. Project activities are promoted through the CES Facebook group, Twitter feed and shared YouTube channel.

Scholars from several universities across Canada (, ,听, , 听and ) are involved in the network as part of the 杏吧原创 University team.
