Abstract:
This chapter examines the opposition by members of the Xolobeni community聽迟辞听proposed mining聽辞苍听their communally鈥�辞肠肠耻辫颈别诲听land,听including through litigation.听While only聽辞苍别听strategy amongst聽many,听迟丑别听耻蝉别听of law is notable and has thu蝉听蹿补谤听been effective in challenging the mining聽肠辞尘辫补苍测听and the government.听The Xolobeni struggle point蝉听迟辞听important links between effort蝉听to overcome聽驳别苍诲别谤别诲听蝉迟谤耻肠迟耻谤别蝉听of production and reproduction and environmental destructi辞苍听迟丑补迟听offers insights for feminist struggles for climate justice.听奥别听诲谤补飞听辞苍听Silvia Federici鈥�蝉听gendered framing of 迟丑别听commons to tease 辞耻迟听the key tensions in the long鈥�drawn鈥�辞耻迟听oppositi辞苍听迟辞听mining in Xolobeni: 迟丑别听involvement 辞蹿听women as the main聽producer蝉听of food聽补苍诲听custodian蝉听辞蹿听the land,听their movement to the centre聽辞蹿听迟丑别听蝉迟谤耻驳驳濒别听in the context聽辞蹿听惫颈辞濒别苍肠别听补驳补颈苍蝉迟听activists,听and their asserti辞苍听辞蹿听苍别飞听forms of temporality聽that engage 迟丑别听responsibilities 辞蹿听迟丑别听present generati辞苍听迟辞听the future.
