And here\u2019s why.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are seven new features that you\u2019ll be able to use in the new cuTheme, and we\u2019re rolling out a seven-series blog post to keep you informed about the changes you should keep on your radar.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today, we\u2019re covering number three out of seven: New media library options.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"post-3-7-media-library\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Post 3\/7: Media Library<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the biggest changes you\u2019re going to notice in your new media library is the option to upload <\/span><b>hosted images<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to your site.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"whats-a-hosted-image\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>What\u2019s a hosted image?<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hosted images are images that our team has curated and uploaded to a large database that everyone can access and share.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can choose from a number of photos that we have uploaded into the database, and you can also search for images using key-words.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"889\" height=\"511\" src=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/webservices\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/Media-Library.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14701\" srcset=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/webservices\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/Media-Library.jpg 889w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/webservices\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/Media-Library-512x294.jpg 512w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/webservices\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/Media-Library-320x184.jpg 320w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/webservices\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/Media-Library-768x441.jpg 768w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/webservices\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/Media-Library-360x207.jpg 360w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/webservices\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/Media-Library-200x115.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 889px) 100vw, 889px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each image comes with a pre-set alt tag that we\u2019ve already written for you. But, you\u2019ll also find it easy to edit and change the alt tag to suit your own needs.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"why-are-alt-tags-important\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Why are alt tags important?<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alt tags make your photos accessible for visually impaired peoples. That\u2019s why we\u2019ve taken care of it for you. Now you can just focus on making your site look awesome!&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"whats-staying-the-same\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>What\u2019s staying the same?&nbsp;<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mainly, everything else in your media library will stay the same.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example, you will still be able to upload photos from your device, and once you\u2019ve uploaded something to your site it will stay in your personal media library.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So basically, you will have three options when it comes to including photos on your site:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Uploading images from your computer<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Choosing photos that already exist within your media library<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Selecting one of our hosted images<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Overall, these updates in the new cuTheme will make it easier for you to create a beautiful website with striking (and accessible!) images.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"want-to-give-your-input-on-the-cutheme\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Want to give your input on the cuTheme?&nbsp;<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you have suggestions or want to learn more, consider being a focus group participant, or join our web advisory committee.
