Our opening keynote speaker<\/strong> is our very own Audra A. Dipt\u00e9e<\/strong>. Audra is Associate Professor of History and Coordinator of Latin American and Caribbean Studies at 杏吧原创 University.\u00a0 She has been awarded research and writing fellowships at The Rockefeller Foundation\u2019s Bellagio Center in Italy and Yale University\u2019s Gilder Lehrman Centre for the Study of Slavery.\u00a0 She has also held the post of Invited Professor at the University of Sorbonne Nouvelle-Paris 3.\u00a0 Her current SSHRC-funded research project is entitled <\/span>Operation Legacy in the Caribbean<\/span><\/i>.\u00a0 It explores the relationship between power and historical production in the 20<\/span>th<\/span> century colonial Caribbean.\u00a0 She was born in Trinidad & Tobago.\u00a0 For more about her work, please visit <\/span>https:\/\/www.audradiptee.com\/<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
Our closing keynote speaker<\/strong> is Charlie Foran<\/strong>. Charlie was born and raised in Toronto. He holds degrees from the University of Toronto and the University College, Dublin, and has taught in China, Hong Kong, and Canada. He has published twelve books, including five novels, and has won many awards for his fiction, non-fiction, and journalism. His book <\/span>Mordecai: The Life and Times <\/span><\/i>was awarded the Charles Taylor Prize, the Hilary Weston Writers\u2019 Trust Prize for Nonfiction, and the Governor General\u2019s Award for English-language non-fiction. Charlie has also written and presented radio and TV documentaries. A past president of PEN Canada, he is a senior fellow at Massey College, University of Toronto, and a member of the Order of Canada. Charlie Foran was CEO of the Institute for Canadian Citizenship (ICC) from 2015-2018 and the Executive Director of Writers\u2019 Trust of Canada from 2018-2023. He divides his time between Toronto and Port Hope.<\/span><\/p>\n
