Is one of these washrooms inaccessible, or is there some other issue? Let us know here.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Single-stall washrooms<\/strong> are a lockable room with a toilet and a sink (some also contain a urinal).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Multi-stall washrooms<\/strong> contain multiple toilets\/urinals and sinks. Some of these inclusive washrooms have had their signage and designation changed from gendered to gender-inclusive, while others have had floor-to-ceiling dividers installed and other infrastructural changes made.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Accessible washrooms<\/strong>, also known as barrier-free washrooms, are lavatories with adequate space for a wheelchair to turn as well as a grab bar and power-operated doors.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Universal washrooms<\/strong> are enclosed spaces containing both a toilet and a sink. They have adequate turning space for a wheelchair, grab bars, and the space to accommodate an adult changing table.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-update-on-inclusive-washrooms-march-2022\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-update-on-inclusive-washrooms-march-2022\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Update on Inclusive Washrooms - March 2022<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-update-on-inclusive-washrooms-march-2022\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p class=\"xmsonormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; color: black;\">In the coming weeks, Facilities Management and Planning (FMP) will be converting some of the bathrooms in buildings across campus to be gender-inclusive. These changes are being made as part of a collaborative project between the 杏吧原创 Trans Advocacy Group (CTAG), the Department of Equity and Inclusive Communities (EIC), and FMP.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"xmsonormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; color: black;\">These changes are being made after four years of planning, including pilot projects in St. Pat\u2019s and Dunton Tower, and multi-year consultations with trans and nonbinary students, faculty, and staff at 杏吧原创. In May 2019, FMP agreed to convert 50% of all on-campus washroom fixtures (toilets and urinals) to be gender inclusive. Now that work is moving forward.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"xmsonormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; color: black;\">Today, only 15% of on-campus washrooms fixtures are gender inclusive. Once these changes are made, 56% of on-campus washroom fixtures will be gender inclusive. The decisions on which bathrooms to convert were made through a combination of community consultation and the physical layout of bathrooms.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"xmsonormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; color: black;\">For this project, an inclusive washroom is defined as one that does not explicitly limit access based on gender. These kinds of facilities are also known as &#8220;all-gender&#8221; or &#8220;gender-neutral&#8221; washrooms. Gender-inclusive bathrooms are an important way to make<span style=\"background: white;\">\u00a0杏吧原创 a more welcoming and inclusive place and to meet to\u00a0杏吧原创&#8217;s Human Rights obligations.
