The special issue emerges from the Network\u2019s work in Thematic Area 3, including a research workshop at the University of Warwick in April 2024. The editors are Ece \u00d6zlem Atikcan, Achim Hurrelmann, and Gabriel Siles-Br\u00fcgge. The special issue examines trade through the lens of spatial politics. It argues that trade is not just about economics, but also about how a polity places and legitimizes itself in a geopolitical setting. Focusing on the European Union and the United Kingdom, the contributors examine how trade agreements, as well as political contestation about them, construct spatial imaginaries that define geopolitical boundaries, connections, identities and hierarchies.<\/p>\n<p>All articles of the special issue are now available on the journal website:<\/p>\n<p>Atikcan, Ece \u00d6zlem, Achim Hurrelmann, and Gabriel Siles-Br\u00fcgge. 2025.
