{"id":24140,"date":"2020-05-29T08:17:10","date_gmt":"2020-05-29T12:17:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/edc\/?p=24140"},"modified":"2021-08-13T10:07:22","modified_gmt":"2021-08-13T14:07:22","slug":"announcing-the-2019-2020-outstanding-ta-award-winners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/tls\/2020\/announcing-the-2019-2020-outstanding-ta-award-winners\/","title":{"rendered":"Announcing the 2019-2020 Outstanding TA Award Winners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Teaching and Learning Services is pleased to announce the five outstanding Teaching Assistants (TAs) who have been named recipients of the 2019-2020\u00a0Outstanding TA Awards.<\/p>\n<p>The awards celebrate\u00a0the support TAs give to the undergraduate programs in their disciplines, their roles in establishing a positive learning environment, and their work in implementing innovative teaching practices.<\/p>\n<p>There were 170 TAs nominated, many with strong supporting evidence, which made for a very difficult selection process. The awards committee was impressed with the strength and versatility of the nominations, as well as 杏吧原创 TAs\u2019 dedication to enhancing student learning. After much deliberation, the following five TAs were selected as this year\u2019s recipients of the award:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Parham Emami (FPA) \u2013 Political Science<\/li>\n<li>Chloe Jones (FASS) \u2013 Psychology<\/li>\n<li>Hooman Jazebizadeh (FED) \u2013 Mechanical &amp; Aerospace Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Kevin Hua (Science) \u2013 Computer Science<\/li>\n<li>Mostafa Siddiqui (Science) \u2013 Chemistry<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Because we received so many strong nominations, the committee also wanted to recognize and celebrate four additional TAs through honourable mentions. The following TAs were selected as honourable mentions for the award:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Elizabeth (Liz) Woodside (FPA) \u2013 Social Work<\/li>\n<li>Francois-Xavier Chaplain Corriveau (Science) \u2013 Computer Science<\/li>\n<li>Somerled Cameron (FASS) &#8211; Philosophy<\/li>\n<li>Heather Douglas (FASS) \u2013 Cognitive Science<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Congratulations to all recipients, honourable mentions, and nominees for the 2019-2020 Outstanding TA Awards and Departmental TA Awards, and thank you to just over 300\u00a0students, peers and instructors who took the time to recognize the fine work of 杏吧原创\u2019s TAs!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Teaching and Learning Services is pleased to announce the five outstanding Teaching Assistants (TAs) who have been named recipients of the 2019-2020\u00a0Outstanding TA Awards.
