{"id":14046,"date":"2013-11-28T09:16:24","date_gmt":"2013-11-28T14:16:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/edc\/?p=14046"},"modified":"2021-08-13T10:20:18","modified_gmt":"2021-08-13T14:20:18","slug":"get-ready-for-a-teaching-career-with-the-edcs-preparing-to-teach-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/tls\/2013\/get-ready-for-a-teaching-career-with-the-edcs-preparing-to-teach-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Get ready for a teaching career with the EDC\u2019s Preparing to Teach program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PhD candidates interested in pursuing a career in academia can now register for the winter 2014 cohort of the EDC\u2019s Preparing to Teach program.<\/p>\n<p>The program consists of nine three-hour sessions during which participants gain hands-on experience with a range of teaching and assessment methods, learn how to manage small and large classes, and address teaching and learning issues particular to their disciplines.<\/p>\n<p>Although informed by theory, the focus will be on teaching practice. Participants will develop new course materials and try out various teaching approaches within a supportive peer environment.<\/p>\n<p>The winter cohort of the program will run Tuesdays from 1 \u2013 4 p.m. beginning January 28 and ending April 1.
