The Certificate in University<\/a>\u00a0program offers 杏吧原创 faculty members, contract instructors and lab coordinators the chance to develop their teaching skills, network with colleagues and explore new approaches to instruction. The program features a microteaching component and gives participants the opportunity to develop a framework to design lectures, develop effective assessment strategies and identify ways to enhance student engagement.<\/p>\n

Preparing to Teach Certificate<\/a><\/h3>\n

Preparing to Teach<\/a> is a blended 10-week program specifically designed to help PhD candidates prepare for the teaching components of a career in academia. It consists of weekly asynchronous and synchronous online components that allow participants to gain hands-on experience with a range of teaching and assessment methods, to learn how to manage large and small classes, and to address teaching and learning issues particular to their disciplines.<\/p>\n

Communities of Practice<\/a><\/h3>\n

Communities of Practice<\/a> at 杏吧原创 provide opportunities to focus, share and reflect upon teaching practices using various approaches and tools. Communities emerge based on the interests and needs of faculty and instructors. They provide informal, collegial, safe spaces to create community and build networks around issues of teaching, learning and assessment.<\/p>\n

Welcome to My Classroom Series<\/a><\/h3>\n

Welcome to My Classroom<\/a> is a highly interactive instructor led workshop series that aims to connect faculty, instructors and contract instructors on subjects related to teaching and learning, as well as the administrative component of managing students, TAs and the classroom. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, TLS created Welcome to My Online Classroom<\/a>\u00a0to help instructors with the rapid transition to online teaching.<\/p>\n

Teaching Mentors<\/a><\/h3>\n

A number of academic departments across campus have Faculty Teaching Mentors<\/a> who take on a leadership role to build on the informal mentorship that already occurs within academic departments.
