“Open educational practices” is a broad term that encompasses the creation and adoption of open textbooks and other open educational resources, open course development, and “non-disposable” assignments.

On Feb. 11, join Teaching and Learning Services and ODFASS for a presentation by Rajiv Jhangiani (Department of Psycholgoy, Kwantlen Polytechnic University) that will make a case for why the move away from traditional (closed) practices is not only desirable but inevitable, and how students, faculty, institutions and our communities all stand to benefit greatly from this transformation.

The session runs from 11 a.m. – noon in the Discovery Centre Multimedia Lab.

Joy Mighty, Associate Vice-President (Teaching and Learning), recently travelled to South Africa to present at the 26th International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE) World Conference. Her presentation focused on cuOpen and its open educational resources, specifically the Certificate in Blended and Online Teaching, aimed at building educators’ skills and confidence to develop and teach blended and online courses.
