Student response systems (SRS) can help you do just that! SRS allow you to create planned or spontaneous surveys and immediately visualize student responses. They can also be used to enhance or guide discussions, track participation, facilitate live testing and guide your teaching strategy.

The EDC centrally supports the use of Poll Everywhere, a web-based polling tool that allows students to use laptops, tablets or cell phones to participate in class polls.

Join us on Sept. 22 from 1-3 p.m. for a workshop that will explore:

  • How to use Poll Everywhere
  • Best practices and implementation steps for polling
  • How other instructors use student response systems

Presented by the Educational Development Centre in partnership with the Paul Menton Centre, the workshop will help you gain the knowledge and skills to effectively support students with disabilities and other diverse learners in your courses. Your participation will allow ĐÓ°ÉÔ´´ to meet its legal obligation for educator training under the AODA legislation.

The workshop features contributions from President Roseann O’Reilly Runte, faculty members, instructors, students and staff through a series of videos on barriers to learning, accessibility and accommodations. Some of the topics covered include:

  • Understanding various barriers to learning

  • Incorporating instructional models to promote accessibility
  • Planning for accommodations
  • Hearing from students and faculty about their experiences

The workshop is facilitated by Boris Vukovic, disabilities coordinator at the PMC, a ĐÓ°ÉÔ´´ graduate and a Ph.D. candidate in the Learning Sciences at McGill University. He has presented for a number of years on accessibility in learning environments and brings undergraduate and graduate teaching experience as well as an in-depth knowledge of relevant theory and research.
