One of the biggest challenges for Plastic Free July is eliminating single-use plastic from food packaging. For this week’s tip, we’ve compiled some ideas for zero waste, package-free snacks you can have at home, at the office, or on the go.<\/p>\n

The majority of plastic packaging that is sent to landfills ends up in our natural environments. Canada produces an estimated 3.3 million tonnes of plastic waste per year \u2013 and only nine per cent of that is recycled.<\/p>\n

3 Ways To Reduce Plastic Packaging:<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

1. Make it at home.
\n<\/strong>If you have a particular snack food you love, but only comes packaged in plastic, why not<\/span> try making your own snacks at home and store them in reusable bags or tins? Making your own homemade snacks helps you reduce waste from plastic packaging and avoid all the processed ingredients that come from the packaged snacks.
