Conversations centered on elevating ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ to global prominence by creating a distinctive and transformative learning and scholarship community that drives an inclusive, impactful and better tomorrow for all.

Share Your Thoughts on the Strategic Themes

The Steering Committee invites you to share your feedback on the five strategic themes by April 24, 2026. Each working group page includes a short form with two questions. Your input will help the working groups shape strategic directions for implementation.

Call for Nominations: Towards ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´@100 Working Groups

ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ University invites nominations for membership on the Towards ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´@100 working groups.

These groups will play a central role in shaping the university’s strategic directions toward 2030 and 2042. Participation offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´â€™s long-term priorities and institutional trajectory as it approaches its second century.

There are five working groups:

Each working group will include students, faculty and staff representatives, with academic and administrative co-chairs appointed.

Role of the Working Groups

Each working group is responsible for examining a defined strategic domain and developing forward-looking recommendations to inform the university’s strategic plan.

Working groups will:

  • Identify key opportunities, risks, constraints and emerging trends shaping ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´â€™s future
  • Develop five to seven Strategic Directions to guide institutional decision-making
  • Consider long-term sustainability, institutional alignment and necessary trade-offs
  • Contribute to a plan that strengthens ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´â€™s impact, resilience and global standing
  • The work is collaborative, future-focused and grounded in institutional evidence and experience

Commitment and Expectations

Serving on a working group requires consistent engagement over the course of the planning process. Members can expect:

  • Approximately two meetings per month of 1.5-2 hours duration
  • Advance preparation and review of materials
  • Active participation in discussion and development of recommendations
  • Engagement through to submission of the group’s recommendations
  • Working groups will conclude their work once the strategic plan is approved by the Board of Governors.

Eligibility and Selection

Nominations are open to students, faculty and staff who demonstrate:

  • Strategic and forward-looking thinking
  • A commitment to institutional sustainability and excellence
  • Willingness to engage constructively in collaborative dialogue
  • Openness to diverse, inclusive, evidence-informed perspectives and experiences that contribute to robust discussion

Nominations must be submitted by Tuesday, March 31, 2026. Selection for the working groups will be made by the Steering Committee. For questions regarding the nomination process, please contact: strategicplan2026@carleton.ca

Launch of Towards ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´@100

Update: Registration for the Town Hall is now closed as the event has reached capacity. A video recording will be made available, after the event, on the Towards ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´@100 website for those unable to attend in person. 

ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´â€™s centennial is in 2042, and we are starting an exciting journey to get there: Towards ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´@100, our strategic visioning process. Join the President for a special edition of the Town Hall to launch this important initiative and help shape an inclusive and impactful future for the university, together. 

Date: Wednesday, March 25, 2026 
Time: 9:30 a.m. – noon 
Location: Fenn Lounge, Teraanga Commons 

This in-person event will provide an overview of the visioning process, explain how you can get involved and highlight opportunities to bring your ideas to the table. All members of the ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ community, students, faculty and staff, are encouraged to participate. 

Bring your insights and ideas â€“ this is your opportunity to contribute to a process that will guide the institution into its second century.
