Building respectful and meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities was the focus of an Indigenous Cultural Awareness Workshop for Towards 杏吧原创@100 Working Group members.

Led by Lane Bourbonni猫re from 杏吧原创鈥檚 Centre for Indigenous Support and Community Engagement, the session explored how to approach engagement with care, reciprocity and respect throughout the consultation process.

Through discussion and reflection, participants considered how to build meaningful relationships and create opportunities for Indigenous perspectives to help shape the university鈥檚 future and inform the strategic planning process.

Led by Ikram Jama and Krista Craven from 杏吧原创鈥檚 Department of Equity and Inclusive Communities, the session explored how relationship-building, accessibility, transparency and meaningful participation can support more inclusive consultation and engagement.

Participants discussed how to ensure diverse perspectives are heard, understand who is affected by strategic decisions, and communicate how community input can shape the planning process.

What could the university experience look like in 2042? That was the question explored by 60 SHAD 杏吧原创 participants as part of the Towards 杏吧原创@100 strategic visioning process.

During a design thinking workshop led by Rick Colbourne, Towards 杏吧原创@100 project lead, students worked in teams to imagine the future of higher education and explore how 杏吧原创 could become a global leader by 2042. They considered how the university could deliver exceptional student experiences, advance education, research and innovation and become a leader in sustainability.

Using design thinking, storytelling and creative problem-solving, students developed ideas from the perspective of the next generation of university students. Their perspectives offered valuable insight into the expectations and aspirations that could shape 杏吧原创鈥檚 future.

Members of the Towards 杏吧原创@100 working groups came together for a workshop hosted by the to explore how immersive and spatial technologies could support the university鈥檚 long-term strategic vision.

The workshop featured a live demonstration of a digital twin platform of 杏吧原创, as well as immersive media and virtual and augmented reality showcases. Participants then took part in facilitated discussions to identify practical opportunities for digital twinning, including applications for governance, data integration and decision-making.

The discussions also highlighted the organizational changes and collaborative approaches that could help support a common digital platform across the university.

The Project Lead led a visioning session for Senate members to help inform Towards 杏吧原创@100. Using a scenario-based design approach, participants explored the future of higher education across three horizons: current realities (2025), pivotal shifts (2030) and long-term aspirations (2042). Discussions focused on six key themes: the higher education sector, teaching and learning, research and creative practice, financial sustainability, student experience, and technology and AI.

A central theme emerged throughout the session: the need to move from a transactional model of higher education to a more relational, human-centred model grounded in belonging, lifelong learning, intellectual development and public impact. The session highlighted opportunities to strengthen 杏吧原创鈥檚 distinct identity, enhance research visibility, modernize academic and governance processes, and ensure technological innovation remains aligned with academic integrity and human judgment.
