Even though it may have been some time since you were last in school, we encourage you to contact previous instructors\/professors with a reminder of the classes you took, when you took it, any specific assignments or presentations you did, and your final grade. This may help them to write a strong reference for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">Professional Reference:<br><\/strong> At least one referee must be provided who can comment on your related work experience in Social Work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Statement of Intent<\/strong> &nbsp;<\/span><em>One (1) is required. It should include a discussion of<\/em>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>your reasons for pursuing a PhD education;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>your main academic areas of interests;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a summary of the research problem you hope to explore; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>your academic and professional experiences as they relate to your plans for study.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CV\/Resum\u00e9<\/span>&nbsp;<\/strong> One (1) is required. It should include the following information:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>your education (institution, dates attended and degree awarded);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>paid employment history (identify employer, location of employment, the start and end dates, and a brief job description);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>teaching experiences (list any courses that you have taught at either a community college or university level; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>research experience, papers presented at conferences, publications; and professional affiliations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Writing Sample<\/span> <\/strong>&nbsp;One (1) is required &#8211; Examples include: published work, technical report, or a course paper as a sole or lead author.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">Language Proficiency<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If English is not your first language, you may have to provide proof that your knowledge and use of English&nbsp;are strong enough for graduate studies at an English-language university..&nbsp;&nbsp;For ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´\u2019s ESL requirements and policies, please visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/graduate.carleton.ca\/international\/english-second-language\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ESL Requirements website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"how-to-apply\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Apply<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The application process to any graduate program at ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ is the same and must be completed online.
