School of Social Work Program Hub<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The School of Social Work offers students three different degrees. The programs within these degrees are designed to provide a wide range of options for attaining a professional degree and\/or for scholarly work in the field of social work.  Our programs are offered in-person on campus only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are new to social work, you may be interested in our BSW program.
\nYou can enter the first year of our BSW program directly from high school and begin taking social work courses along with an array of other electives in the social sciences and humanities.
\nIf you already have a diploma from a recognized college, or you are in your first year at university, you may be eligible to enter into the second year of the undergraduate BSW program.
\nIf you are someone who already has a 4-year honours university degree in another discipline and is now interested in focusing your studies in social work, there is also an opportunity to enter directly into the third year of the BSW program.

The School of Social work also offers two MSW degrees.
\nThe first, for people who already have a 4-year honours university degree, is a 2-year master\u2019s program. This program includes a foundation year where you will be oriented to the profession and participate in your first practicum. After that, you will proceed to the advanced year of graduate studies in social work.
\nIf you already have an accredited BSW and are looking for graduate studies in social work, the one-year MSW program might be a good fit for you. In this program, you have the option to either complete a thesis or a practicum as part of your graduate program.

Finally, the School of Social Work offers a PhD program that is focused on social work education, practice, social welfare and social justice. This program is unique in Canada, offering students the opportunity to complete an advocacy practicum in the community and a course on teaching critical social work.
