The McIntyre Exam Centre (MEC) is designed to provide services to both students and instructors at 杏吧原创 in order to meet a variety of exam accommodations. MEC has two main exam sites; Nideyin\u00e0n (formerly known as the University Centre) Room 133, and Dunton Tower Room 710. We also use other classrooms around campus during our busy times. MEC operates 7 days a week.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1605\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 1400px\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1605 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/ses\/wp-content\/uploads\/MEC-main-locations.jpg\" alt=\"Collage of various locations, Nideyin\u00e0n building, Dunton Tower, photos of interior of testing centre for exam accommodations\" width=\"1400\" height=\"437\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">MEC exam sites; Nideyin\u00e0n (formerly known as the University Centre) Room 133, and Dunton Tower Room 710.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We offer a variety of accommodations, including, but not limited to;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Quiet location rooms with 30 students or less<\/li>\n<li>Access to white noise or personalized audio<\/li>\n<li>Noise cancelling headphones<\/li>\n<li>Computers equipped with MS Word, Kurzweil, Dragon, JAWS, NVDA<\/li>\n<li>Reader and Scribe services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you believe you may be eligible for accommodation please contact the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/pmc\/\">Paul Menton Centre<\/a> (individualized support for disability and accessibility) or <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/equity\/accommodation\/\">Equity Services<\/a> (religious\/spiritual observation and pregnancy).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Course Instructors looking to reserves space in MEC for their students with Paul Menton Centre accommodations should submit a notice of examination via the <a href=\"https:\/\/ventus.carleton.ca\/instructor\/\">Ventus Instructor Portal<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>Exams at MEC: Student FAQ<\/h3>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-food-and-drinks\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-food-and-drinks\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Food and Drinks<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-food-and-drinks\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>The only beverage permitted in the McIntyre Exam Centre is water \u2013 in a sealable, transparent, non-breakable container. Food and beverages, other than water, are not permitted in the Exam Centre \u2013 except for students with a PMC documented accommodation requiring food or drink during a test. Food brought to the exam centre must be cold and\/or room temperature.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-how-will-i-know-if-i-have-a-seat-reservation-in-mcintyre-exam-centre-for-my-test\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-how-will-i-know-if-i-have-a-seat-reservation-in-mcintyre-exam-centre-for-my-test\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">How will I know if I have a seat reservation in McIntyre Exam Centre for my test?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-how-will-i-know-if-i-have-a-seat-reservation-in-mcintyre-exam-centre-for-my-test\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For tests and midterms \u2013 the date, time and building where you are writing will be available in <a href=\"https:\/\/ventus.carleton.ca\/student\/\">Ventus<\/a>, 7 days before your exam, with the final arrangement confirmation sent via email 3 days before your test date.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>For final exams \u2013 the date, time and building where you will write will be posted in <a href=\"https:\/\/ventus.carleton.ca\/student\/\">Ventus<\/a>, 14 days before your final exam. <strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-what-if-i-decide-to-write-with-my-class\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-what-if-i-decide-to-write-with-my-class\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">What if I decide to write with my class?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-what-if-i-decide-to-write-with-my-class\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>Should you choose to write with your class, please be sure to <a href=\"&#x6d;&#x61;&#x69;&#x6c;&#x74;&#x6f;&#x3a;&#x45;&#x78;&#x61;&#x6d;&#82;&#111;&#111;&#109;&#64;&#99;&#97;rleton&#x2e;&#x63;&#x61;\"><strong>email us<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0as soon as you can to inform us that you will be cancelling your seat reservation at MEC. This allows us to offer the seat to another student waiting to write a test\/exam.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-i-have-an-upcoming-test-and-have-not-received-a-confirmation-email-from-the-mcintyre-exam-centre-what-do-i-do\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-i-have-an-upcoming-test-and-have-not-received-a-confirmation-email-from-the-mcintyre-exam-centre-what-do-i-do\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">I have an upcoming test and have not received a confirmation email from the McIntyre Exam Centre, what do I do?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-i-have-an-upcoming-test-and-have-not-received-a-confirmation-email-from-the-mcintyre-exam-centre-what-do-i-do\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Check the<a href=\"https:\/\/ventus.carleton.ca\/student\/\"> Ventus Student Portal<\/a> to confirm if your exam arrangement has been confirmed.<\/li>\n<li>If there is no email in your 杏吧原创 inbox, contact your instructor to verify that the upcoming test has been booked with the McIntyre Exam Centre.<\/li>\n<li>Should this not resolve the issue, please contact your PMC coordinator to ensure you have test accommodations set for the class.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>NOTE: <\/strong>Just registered with the PMC? If you have just registered for accommodations within one week of an upcoming test\/exam, MEC may not be able to accommodate you for that particular test\/exam.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-what-if-my-accommodations-have-changed\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-what-if-my-accommodations-have-changed\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">What if my accommodations have changed?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-what-if-my-accommodations-have-changed\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>If you have changes that need to be made to your accommodations please contact the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/pmc\/\">PMC<\/a>.\u00a0 The McIntyre Exam Centre <strong>cannot<\/strong>\u00a0change your accommodations without approval from your PMC coordinator. Whenever possible, we ask that we be notified of accommodation changes two (2) weeks in advance.<strong> Changes made within one week of an upcoming exam will not be reflected on that particular exam reservation.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-what-sort-of-training-have-staff-at-mec-received\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-what-sort-of-training-have-staff-at-mec-received\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">What sort of training have staff at MEC received?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-what-sort-of-training-have-staff-at-mec-received\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>All front-line staff at MEC have received training in AODA standards, harassment and violence, as well as training in the use of adaptive technology and furniture. Front-line staff are available to assist students and proctors during office hours, as needed.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-am-i-required-to-pay-for-the-services-i-receive-at-mec\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-am-i-required-to-pay-for-the-services-i-receive-at-mec\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Am I required to pay for the services I receive at MEC?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-am-i-required-to-pay-for-the-services-i-receive-at-mec\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>No 杏吧原创 student is required to pay for the accommodations they receive when writing a test\/exam for a 杏吧原创 course.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-one-of-my-accommodations-includes-supervised-breaks-how-does-that-work\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-one-of-my-accommodations-includes-supervised-breaks-how-does-that-work\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">One of my accommodations includes supervised breaks - how does that work?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-one-of-my-accommodations-includes-supervised-breaks-how-does-that-work\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>MEC has designated quiet spaces at, or near, each of our two primary writing locations. If you are entitled to a supervised break, one of our proctors will escort you to the designated break spot and will remain with you as you enjoy your break.<br \/>\n<\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-i-am-allowed-a-snack-break-how-do-i-access-this\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-i-am-allowed-a-snack-break-how-do-i-access-this\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">I am allowed a snack break - how do I access this?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-i-am-allowed-a-snack-break-how-do-i-access-this\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>Your snack will be stored away from your writing space when you begin the exam. When you would like to take your snack break, please alert one of our proctors and they will assist with this.<br \/>\n<\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-i-normally-write-my-exams-at-mec-why-is-my-final-in-another-location\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-i-normally-write-my-exams-at-mec-why-is-my-final-in-another-location\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">I normally write my exams at MEC - why is my final in another location?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-i-normally-write-my-exams-at-mec-why-is-my-final-in-another-location\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>Due to the high volume of students being seated to write final exams, it is not possible to host all students at a dedicated MEC facility. Students requiring adaptive furniture or an alone room will be prioritized at our dedicated exam centres. As such, you may be writing your final in another location, but you will still have complete access to all of your accommodations.<br \/>\n<\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Can&#8217;t find an answer to a question you have?
