The draft concepts included statements towards sharing knowledge and shaping the future, enhancing wellness and sustainability, and serving the greater Ottawa community and the global world. The task force is entering the drafting phase and the Strategic Integrated Plan will come to Senate for approval on May 29, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"chairs-remarks\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Chair\u2019s Remarks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>President Bacon begun the meeting with a moment of silence for PhD Student Fareed Arasteh and alumnus Mansour Pourjam who tragically passed away in the Jan. 8 Tehran plane crash. He then provided an update on recent activities and highlights, including the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/president\/2019\/re-appointment-suzanne-blanchard-vp-students-enrolment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reappointment of Suzanne Blanchard<\/a> as the Vice-President of Students and Enrolment, the launch of the <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.carleton.ca\/story\/canadian-accessibility-network-launch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Canadian Accessibility Network<\/a>, the positive <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.carleton.ca\/story\/canadian-graduate-professional-student-survey\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2019 Canadian Graduate and Professional Student Survey Results<\/a>, and 杏吧原创\u2019s impressive <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.carleton.ca\/story\/campus-sustainability-rankings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">rankings in sustainability<\/a>.&nbsp; President Bacon also spoke to the success of 杏吧原创\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.carleton.ca\/2019\/giving-tuesday-million-dollars-raised\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Giving Tuesday<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/unitedway\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">United Way<\/a> campaigns as well as the Let\u2019s Talk event with Juno Award winning and 杏吧原创 alumna Kellylee Evans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"senate-membership-call-for-nominations\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Senate Membership Call for Nominations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Nominations for faculty and students to serve on Senate commencing July 1, 2020 are now being accepted. More information can be found on the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/senate\/elections\/call-for-nominations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Senate website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"new-policy-on-academic-accommodations-during-labour-disputes\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">New Policy on Academic Accommodations During Labour Disputes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Senate approved a new policy that formally governs the process of providing accommodations for students unable to participate in academic activities in the case of a labour disruption, legal strike, or lock-out while maintaining academic standards under these circumstances.&nbsp; The policy can be viewed on the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/senate\/senate-policies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Senate website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"minors-concentrations-and-specializations-approved\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Minors, Concentrations, and Specializations Approved<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Senate approved the introduction of the following minors, concentrations and specializations effective Fall 2020:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Minor in Performance in the Public Sphere<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Minor in Quebec Studies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Minor in Criminology and Criminal Justice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Concentration in Work and Labour to the Master of Arts in Political Economy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Concentration in Public History to the PHD in History<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Concentration in Mental Health and Well-being to the Master of Arts in Psychology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Specialization in Data Science to the Master of Public Policy and Administration program as well as the Master of Science in Medical Physics and Particle Physics programs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaborative MA Specialization in Latin American and Caribbean Studies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"digital-humanities-to-be-housed-in-college-of-the-humanities\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Digital Humanities to be Housed in College of the Humanities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Senate approved the administrative home of the Collaborative M.A. Specialization in Digital Humanities to be moved from the Department of English to its new permanent home in the College of the Humanities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"phd-economics-cyclical-review-complete\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">PhD Economics Cyclical Review Complete<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Senate approved the Final Assessment Report and Executive Summary arising from the Cyclical Review of the PhD program in Economics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"senate-committee-membership-ratifications\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Senate Committee Membership Ratifications<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The following Senate committee appointments were ratified, effective Jan. 31, 2020:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Chris Dornan (FPA), Senate Honorary Degrees Committee<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Morgan Rooney (FASS), Senate Academic Integrity Appeals Committee<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nadiya Slobodenyuk (FASS), Senate Committee on Student Awards<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"senator-spotlight-alexis-shotwell\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Senator Spotlight: Alexis Shotwell<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Senate is composed of over 80 members representing the 杏吧原创 community like Dr. Alexis Shotwell.
