Here are the highlights:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"chairs-remarks-strategic-planning\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Chair\u2019s Remarks: Strategic Planning<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>President Benoit-Antoine Bacon started with a review of 杏吧原创\u2019s Strategic Integrated Plan 2013-2018. He highlighted that the vision and objective laid out in the plan had, by and large, been realized. He announced that it was now time to engage our community in a broad and consultative process towards designing our next Strategic Integrated Plan, and announced the four co-chairs that will be leading the process:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Lorraine Dyke, Deputy Provost, Academic Operations and Planning (from July 1)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Patrice Smith, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs (from July 1)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cindy Taylor, Assistant Vice-President, Human Resources<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Betina Appel Kuzmarov, Clerk of Senate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>On behalf of the co-chairs, Lorraine Dyke provided an overview on the proposed planning process which will start with establishing a representative task force of 12 to 15 people. It is expected that the work of the task force would start in September and end in the Spring of 2020 when the Strategic Integrated Plan is taken to Senate and Board for approval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"39-new-undergraduate-awards\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">39 New Undergraduate Awards<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Senate approved the terms of reference for 39 new undergraduate awards and changes to five existing undergraduate awards. Reviewed by the Senate Committee on Student Awards, the following is a breakdown of the new undergraduate awards:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>2 entrance scholarships<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>6 in course scholarships<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>11 departmental scholarships<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>17 bursary awards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3 athletic awards<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"revised-institutional-quality-assurance-process\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Revised Institutional Quality Assurance Process<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Senate approved the revised Institutional Quality Assurance Process that is a result of a review process led by the Office of Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President (Academic). Lorraine Dyke provided Senate with an overview on the consultation process, key objectives and changes made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"membership-ratification\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Membership Ratification<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Senate ratified the re-appointment of Farrah Housseinian as the elected member of Senate from the Faculty of Science, with effect from July 1, 2019, for a three-year term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"cyclical-program-reviews\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cyclical Program Reviews<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Senate approved the reports which arises from cyclical program reviews:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Final Assessment Report and Executive Summary : Undergraduate and Graduate Programs in the Sprott School of Business<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Final Assessment Report and Executive Summary: Undergraduate Programs in Biology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Final Assessment Report and Executive Summary: Graduate Programs in Sustainable Energy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"the-hub-for-good-presentation\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Hub for Good Presentation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Senate received a presentation from Ryan Davies, Director, Advancement Strategy and Brand on 杏吧原创\u2019s new community liaison website, the Hub for Good. The Hub for Good will serve as an interactive platform to promote and facilitate collaboration between the campus community and the broader community.
