\n Policy Update No2: December 2023\n <\/h1>\n \n \n <\/header>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n

The Senior Management Committee met on December 18, 2023, for review and approval of the following policies:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tuition Refunds upon a Student\u2019s Death<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The policy outlines that in the event of a student’s death during an academic term, including the period of examinations, the University will reverse the tuition charges and, if applicable, reimburse the student’s estate with the remaining balance. This policy applies whenever a student suffers a death during the academic term (including the term’s examination period) and is applicable to all terms: Fall, Winter, and Summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are no changes to the process of applying the policy. However, there is a new addition of roles and responsibilities as well as links to related policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Environmental Health and Safety Policy and Guidelines<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Policy fulfils the University\u2019s legal obligations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act to have a Health and Safety Policy that is renewed annually. Further, this Policy confirms the University\u2019s commitment to ensuring a strong and sustainable health and safety culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The updated version of this policy includes a statement of commitment that is aligned with ISO standards and best practices. The update also includes added links to related policies, which are the Alcohol and Cannabis Use Policies. There are no changes to the ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ University\u2019s Guideline on Impairment at Work<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Workplace Harassment Prevention Policy<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Policy fulfils the legal obligations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act for a Workplace Harassment Prevention Policy, which is renewed annually. Further, it confirms the university\u2019s commitment to ensuring a respectful learning and working environment that is free of harassment, including sexual harassment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are no notable changes to this policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Workplace Violence Policy<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Policy fulfills the legal obligations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act for a Workplace Violence Prevention Policy which is renewed annually. Further, this Policy confirms the university\u2019s commitment to ensuring a respectful learning and working environment that is free of violence, including sexual violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are no notable changes to this policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Procurement Policy<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The primary purpose of the Procurement Policy is to ensure that the acquisition of goods and services is undertaken in an open, fair, transparent, efficient, ethical, and cost-effective manner while obtaining the best value for money for the University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
