  {"id":4585,"date":"2020-11-12T09:50:52","date_gmt":"2020-11-12T14:50:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/secretariat\/?p=4585"},"modified":"2025-08-28T12:09:14","modified_gmt":"2025-08-28T16:09:14","slug":"october-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/secretariat\/2020\/october-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"October 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<section class=\"w-screen px-6 cu-section cu-section--white ml-offset-center md:px-8 lg:px-14\">\n    <div class=\"space-y-6 cu-max-w-child-5xl  md:space-y-10 cu-prose-first-last\">\n\n            <div class=\"cu-textmedia flex flex-col lg:flex-row mx-auto gap-6 md:gap-10 my-6 md:my-12 first:mt-0 max-w-5xl\">\n        <div class=\"justify-start cu-textmedia-content cu-prose-first-last\" style=\"flex: 0 0 100%;\">\n            <header class=\"font-light prose-xl cu-pageheader md:prose-2xl cu-component-updated cu-prose-first-last\">\n                                    <h1 class=\"cu-prose-first-last font-semibold !mt-2 mb-4 md:mb-6 relative after:absolute after:h-px after:bottom-0 after:bg-cu-red after:left-px text-3xl md:text-4xl lg:text-5xl lg:leading-[3.5rem] pb-5 after:w-10 text-cu-black-700 not-prose\">\n                        October 2020\n                    <\/h1>\n                \n                                \n                            <\/header>\n\n                    <\/div>\n\n            <\/div>\n\n    <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n<h2 id=\"october-2020-updates\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">October 2020 Updates<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Senior Management Committee met on Oct. 28, 2020 and the following policies were reviewed and approved:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/secretariat\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/158\/Environment-Health-Safety-Policy.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Environmental Health and Safety Policy<\/a> \u2013 Minor changes were made.\u00a0 Employees are required to complete specified Health and Safety training upon hiring or as new situations arise.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/secretariat\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/158\/Payment-to-Individuals-Busines-Entities.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Payments to Individuals &amp; Business Entities<\/a> \u2013 A change was made under &#8220;Gifts to Employees and Non-Employees.&#8221;\u00a0 Gifts can be made from university funds under specific circumstances and dollar amounts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/secretariat\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/158\/Student-Visitor-Trespass-to-University-Property-Policy.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Student and Visitor Trespass from University Property<\/a> \u2013 The name of the policy was updated from \u201cStudent and Visitor Ban from Campus.\u201d\u00a0 There is an addition of Interim Measures, the addition of a Definition Section, clarifications under Roles and Responsibilities section and the Appeal Process and Protocols.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/secretariat\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/158\/Student-Communication-Policy.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Student Communication Policy<\/a> \u2013 Updates were made to encourage collaboration on student communications, the modernization of language, and the use of push notifications.\u00a0 Additionally, an update was made under the Advisory Committee Membership.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/secretariat\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/158\/Tobacco-Smoking-and-Consumption-of-Cannabis-on-Campus-Policy.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tobacco Smoking and Cannabis Consumption on Campus<\/a> \u2013 The name of the policy was updated from &#8220;Smoking on Campus (Tobacco and Cannabis Consumption).\u201d\u00a0 Minor substance changes were made.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/secretariat\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/158\/Workplace-Harassment-Prevention-Policy.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Workplace Harassment Prevention Policy<\/a> \u2013 The contact list and reporting sections were updated to include Deputy Provost and Director of Labour Relations (Academic).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/secretariat\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/158\/Workplace-Violence-Prevention-Policy.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Workplace Violence Prevention Policy<\/a> \u2013 The contact list and reporting sections were updated to include Deputy Provost and Director of Labour Relations (Academic).\u00a0 There is also an additional reference to the Workplace Violence Prevention Program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Web versions of all policies are made available for convenience on the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/secretariat\/policies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">University Secretariat website<\/a>.
