The  (RISE-GRI) offers undergraduate students at Canadian universities the opportunity to undertake summer research internships at eligible German institutions.    RISE-GRI pairs students at Canadian universities with three-month projects supervised by PhD students in Germany.

  1. Open to full-time undergraduates in biology, chemistry, computer science, physics, earth sciences, or engineering (or a closely related field) who have completed at least two years of a four- or five-year program
  2. Students in Quebec enrolled in a three-year undergraduate degree must have completed at least one year of their university program
  3. Projects must start between May 15 and July 10, 2023
  4. Approved recipients receive $6,000 toward travel and accommodations

Computer Science or a related field. The student would conduct a short-term (1-4 weeks) research
internship at Universidad de Valparaiso, working on the following project:

Project Title: Simulating Belbin roles in work teams with Stochastic Petri Nets.
Name of supervising professor: Alonso Inostrosa-Psijas
Discipline: Computer Science.
Period in which internship can take place: February 27th, 2023 to December 31st, 2023

Eligibility:

• Undergraduate student at ĐÓ°ÉÔ­´´, must be a student while on the internship
• 3rd-year standing from computer science or related field.
• Canadian citizen or permanent resident
• At least 18 years of age

Value of award: $4000, with an additional $1000 for students with disabilities, indigenous students, or
low-income students

This funding opportunity is offered under the International Research Mobility Experience (IRME), as part
of the Global Skills Opportunity initiative by the Government of Canada to promote and reduce barriers
to outbound mobility.

Students (college-level, undergraduate, or graduate) apply to work on a project with an astroparticle physicist that leverages their disciplinary knowledge to new spaces. Students receive $12,000 CAN for the experience and can work anywhere across Canada with a supervisor (i.e., faculty or post-doctoral fellow) whose research is based in astroparticle physics. Past interns have come from health sciences, computer sciences, education, and beyond. We are hopeful for new students from different disciplines will apply and bring their skills to the table! Virtual Ventures is an award-winning STEM outreach program out of the Faculty of Engineering and Design and is hiring for STEM Summer Camp Instructors! As an instructor, you will be responsible for delivering workshops in local schools, as well as developing and delivering STEM content through summer camps.

Work Term: May 8 – August 25, 2023

Hourly wage: $18/hour

Ideal Candidates are passionate about sharing STEM knowledge, have innovative ideas, are approachable, and a good problem solver. Prior experience working with children or in a mentoring, coaching, or teaching role is an asset.
