Job Description:

Applicant will join a team of scientists and engineers building machine vision applications.

The position will require investigation into image processing algorithms, development of rapid protypes, and implementation of successful algorithms into products.

The applicant will also have responsibility to participate in the development of new framework and software architectures to maximum the use of parallel processing and GPU acceleration. The objective is to build fast, efficient, and accurate image analysis.

The applicant should be comfortable with working with cameras. This includes integration with frame grabbers, basic wiring, and making cable connections. Experimental testing will involve assembling prototypes from lab materials and testing in the field or at customer sites.

The applicant will be supported by a team of experts in control theory, software development, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, machine shops, and many years of field experience.

Some travel will be required. Generally, about 3 trips per year for a period of 1 to 2 weeks. This will require lifting and carrying of cases, setting up equipment, and running experiments to gather data, and demonstrating systems being delivered.

The person selected for this position will work on new technology and new ideas. A 鈥渃an-do鈥 attitude, an open communicator, and positive disposition are important attributes in our staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Senior Research Software Developer will lead research application development at 杏吧原创 University. This individual, as a member of Research Computing Services (RCS), a unit of Information Technology Services, is a centralized resource who will work directly with researchers and research groups across all faculties to design and implement custom research software, with specialization in modern machine learning, data science and artificial intelligence techniques, tools, and applications. This role will involve working directly with a varied group of clients including faculty members, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and other IT professionals on campus. The incumbent will be required to liaise with the research community and other stakeholders to ensure needs are being met and to evaluate gaps in provided services.

Qualifications:

The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
鈥 Knowledge of software development and ITS policies, procedures, and processes
鈥 Knowledge of office as well as the broader university academic units, departments, and
divisions
鈥 Knowledge of office productivity software and databases, internet browsers and search engines, discipline-specific software, enterprise software, and technology devices
鈥 Knowledge of cultural competency and diversity in a business context
鈥 Experience as a software developer having supported or been involved in computationally intensive research projects at an academic institution or in industry.

Shad is not a 9-3 classroom 鈥 it is a jam-packed 27 days in July full of activities inside and outside of a university environment. Our immersive program requires dedicated and responsible Program Assistants who can help bring program activities to life and ensure the safety, well-being and engagement of Shad participants.

As a Program Assistant, you鈥檒l live on campus for the duration of the program and be responsible for the education, mentorship, and safety of Shad participants. It is a multi-faceted role with a focus on facilitating a safe, inclusive and engaged community. You鈥檒l create, lead and deliver academic workshops that draw from your own interests and experiences, guide discussions, and support program operations and logistics. Being a Program Assistant is one of the most demanding but rewarding opportunities you will experience.

Here鈥檚 what you鈥檒l do:
鈼 Be fully present in program activities, which may include lectures, workshops, events, recreational activities, cultural and social field trips
