杏吧原创<\/strong><\/p>\n

‘University: Uncensored – The Ottawa Summit for Academic Freedom’ and Scholars at Risk, are pleased to announce Canada\u2019s very first annual student advocacy summit. Proudly hosted by 杏吧原创 University, the summit will take place at MacOdrum Library over the days of Friday and Saturday September the 27th<\/sup>and 28th<\/sup>, 2019.<\/p>\n

With academic freedom as its focal point, the summit will offer participants a unique space within which they are able to engage with activists, leading human rights experts, world-class scholars, and senior civil servants. During the course of the summit, registrants will gain first-hand insights into the inner workings of advocacy platforms, human rights and its institutions, as well as delving into the meaning of academic freedom.<\/p>\n

Who Can Register and How<\/strong><\/p>\n

The summit is open to students enrolled in LAWS 4903 as well as 25 additional students from both 杏吧原创 and the University of Ottawa. Please note that, although preference will be given to 4th\u00a0<\/sup>year students involved in advocacy leadership, registration is not limited to any particular faculty or program. Therefore, students from all disciplines and backgrounds are encouraged to register.<\/p>\n

Given the limited number of available spots, interested students are expected to submit a document, no longer than 300 words<\/strong>, stating the following:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. What fuels their interest in academic freedom and human rights;<\/li>\n
  2. What they wish to gain from the experience;<\/li>\n
  3. What they bring to the conference.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    *Please note that only successful candidates will be contacted<\/p>\n

    Dates and Deadlines<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Interested students are asked to email their applications to university.uncensored@carleton.ca<\/a> no later than Tuesday, September the 17th\u00a0<\/sup>at midnight (i.e.\u00a0 by 11:59 pm)<\/strong>. Please make sure to send in your applications with the following as your subject line: Application: FIRST NAME, LAST NAME. Note that the conference is free for participants and that attendance (both days) is mandatory.<\/p>\n

    Any applications submitted after September the 17th\u00a0<\/sup>will not be considered. Successful candidates will be contacted by Friday, September the 20th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n
