The Scholars at Risk Committee at 杏吧原创 is delighted to announce that it has been nominated by the Canadian satellite school of the聽National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), based in Gatineau, Qu茅bec, for The Alfonso Garc铆a Robles Prize, given to “outstanding organizations or individuals working in favour of the rights of migrant people” by UNAM.
The award was created in memory of Alfonso Garc铆a Robles,聽Mexican diplomat and human rights defender, and the winner of the 1982 Nobel Peace Prize. Since 2017, the National Autonomous University of Mexico has annually awarded this honorary prize “to individuals or organizations that do outstanding work in the defence, promotion and protection of the rights of migrant persons in vulnerable situations.” They reach out for nominations from their many satellite schools, and this year the Canadian chapter elected to recognize the work that SAR in general, but SAR 杏吧原创 specifically, has been doing to support exiled or refugee scholars.
While the results of the nomination will not be known until the fall, the SAR Committee is deeply honoured to be considered, and wanted to acknowledge the supportive human rights work done by UNAM Canada ()
