To ensure safe, legal, and insured use of RPAS, the University maintains a comprehensive framework that includes mandatory registration, regulatory compliance, and liability insurance coverage.<\/p>\n\n\n                            <\/header>\n\n                    <\/div>\n\n            <\/div>\n\n    <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What Is Covered?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The University maintains a dedicated RPAS liability insurance policy that applies to approved and registered RPAS operations conducted by authorized University personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>RPAS Insurance Coverage Includes:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Third-party liability for bodily injury and property damage<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coverage for legal defence costs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> Insurance does not extend to personal or recreational drone use. All RPAS operations must be pre-approved and conducted strictly for University business, research, or instruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Operator Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All operators must be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Certified by Transport Canada (Basic or Advanced RPAS Certificate, as required by operation class)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In possession of a valid RPAS Pilot Certificate<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Registered through the University\u2019s RPAS Approval and Registration Process<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Approved by the Department of Risk Management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pre-Flight Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before any RPAS flight, the following must be completed&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<li>Any external parties or entities requesting to operate a drone on 杏吧原创 University property first must obtain permission from an 杏吧原创 University sponsor or representative for any work on campus (in this case that is you and I assume that permission will be provided to the contractor\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For all drone activities, full compliance with all of the legal requirements noted on the Transport Canada website regarding the flying of a drone, safety tips, penalties, first time pilot advice and terminology. Canadian law mandates these requirements, and compliance is required in order to fly a drone on 杏吧原创 University property.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Any external parties or entities requesting to operate a drone on 杏吧原创 University property first must obtain permission from an 杏吧原创 University sponsor or representative for any work on campus (in this case that is you and I assume that permission will be provided to the contractor\n\n\n\n<li>Only pilots registered with Transport Canada are permitted to operate drones on 杏吧原创 University property.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>External parties are required to provide a Certificate of Insurance evidencing drone liability insurance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All parties should send the following information 5 to 10 business days prior to planned flight to the ORM office for review (<a href=\"mailto:risk@carleton.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">risk@carleton.ca<\/a>):<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><br>&#8211; Date of flight<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Purpose of flight (research, photography, etc.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Time frame (e.g., 11am to 2pm)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Location\/flight area (provide an aerial map with area shaded)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Weight of the UAV, registration number, make and model<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Provide name, phone number, email address of 杏吧原创 University contact or sponsor for the requested flight<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Advise if the UAV\/Drone is equipped with equipment for taking photos, video or if filming is planned<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Copy of the operator&#8217;s pilot certificate<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Restricted &amp; Prohibited Operations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RPAS operations are not permitted:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For personal or recreational use<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Near or over people without appropriate certification and drone classification<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In controlled or restricted airspace without prior authorization<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Outside of Canada without special approval and international insurance coordination<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">Unauthorized drone flights may result in legal action, fines, and loss of University privileges<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What Is Covered?
