Welcome to your Bachelor of Journalism and Humanities degree program!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>Your Degree Program<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Bachelor of Journalism and Humanities is an Honours degree requiring 20.0 credits and, normally, will take four years to complete. It is offered jointly by the School of Journalism<\/a> and Communication and the College of the Humanities.<\/a> It is designed for students who wish to receive a comprehensive education in the humanities and also pursue a career in journalism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For roughly half of your degree (9.0 credits) you will take the same courses as Bachelor of Journalism (B.J.) students \u2014 which include 8.0 credits in required Journalism courses and 0.5 credits required in each of Canadian History and Indigenous Studies. For the other half of your degree (11.0 credits) you will take the majority of the courses offered in the Bachelor of Humanities (B.Hum.) degree, including 1.0 in free electives at the 1000 level. You will add a 0.5 credit elective in your first year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • HIST 1302 (0.5) Rethinking Modern Canadian History.  Offered in the winter term only<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • HIST 2301 (0.5) Canadian Political History.  Offered in the winter term only<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • HIST 2314 (0.5) Home, Work, and Play in Early Canada. Offered in the winter term only<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        The next 0.5 credit, you choose from one of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        • INDG 1010 (0.5) Indigenous Ways of Knowing. Offered in both fall and winter terms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • INDG 1011 (0.5) Introduction to Indigenous-Settler Encounters. Offered in both fall and winter terms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          For the final 0.5 credit to make 5.0 total (2.5 over each term) you will choose an elective at the 1000 level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
