Congratulations to Dr. Kevin Nunes and Dr. Maria Rogers on each being awarded a SSHRC Insight Grant for their research projects in the October 2023 competition:

• (Psychology)��has received funding for “Attitudes toward Violence, Self-Control, Psychopathy, and Aggressive/Violent Behaviour.” With �Ӱ�ԭ��-based co-applicants��,��,��and��, Dr. Nunes will explore risk factors for aggressive and violent behaviour, focusing in particular on the relationship between attitudes toward violence, self-control, and psychopathy.
• ��(�ʲ��⳦��DZ��Dz���)��and a team of six co-applicants and collaborators have been funded for their project “Attending to Attendance: Understanding School Absenteeism Among Children and Youth with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.”

The SSHRC Insight Grant program supports high-calibre research projects that build knowledge and understanding about people, societies and the world. Nine �Ӱ�ԭ�� researchers were awarded funds ranging from $99,000 to $315,000 for their research initiatives. The grant results were officially announced on September 13th.

Congratulations to Shelley Brown (Psychology) on being awarded a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Partnership Development Grant in the November 2023 competition. The project is a formal partnership with the Ontario Ministry of the Solicitor General and includes team members from the Ministry as well as from the Center for Effective Public Policy. “Evaluating a New Model of Probation and Parole Supervision in Ontario” aims to evaluate the made-in-Ontario Core Correctional Practice model of community supervision. This evidence-based community supervision model is intended to address the complex needs of justice-impacted people experiencing community-based sentences such as probation and parole.
