You are invited to join us in celebration of Jim\u2019s career and dedication to 杏吧原创 student life at a reception on March 5, 2020 at 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. in Dunton Tower 2017. Please <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/provost\/cu-events\/retirement-jim-kennelly\/\">register online to confirm your attendance<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jim is a 杏吧原创 graduate (BA\/75) and has worked as 杏吧原创\u2019s Ombudsperson for the last 42 years. In this role, he oversees approximately 850 cases per year and uses his extensive training in dispute resolution and knowledge of legislation and case law to mediate a variety of issues including academic disputes, legal aid, consumer protection and employee issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology in 1975, Jim worked as a Co-ordinator of Student Services for three years at 杏吧原创 in what was known at the time as St. Patrick\u2019s College. He then became the University\u2019s first Ombudsperson in 1978, a role that he has since expanded into a team that now serves 杏吧原创\u2019s more than 31,000 students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Effective Feb. 1, Siobhan MacManus will serve as Interim Ombudsperson until a new Ombudsperson has been appointed.
