You can find information about the time-ticket schedule here: <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/registrar\/registration\/timeticket-information\/\">https:\/\/carleton.ca\/registrar\/registration\/timeticket-information\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As you prepare to register for classes for 2020-2021, I would be glad to chat with any of you about your course options, and to go over your audit with you to make sure that things are on track with your degree requirements.&nbsp; Even though we can\u2019t meet in person this year, you can email me with any specific questions that you might have, and I will be sure to respond within 24-48 hours; you can also email me to set up a virtual meeting over Zoom, to go over your audit, course selections, and any other questions you might have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you would just like a quick refresher on your program requirements, you can find them listed on the 杏吧原创 website, here: <a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.carleton.ca\/undergrad\/undergradprograms\/philosophy\/\">https:\/\/calendar.carleton.ca\/undergrad\/undergradprograms\/philosophy\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For some more specific suggestions, please keep reading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>IF YOU HAVE SECOND-YEAR STANDING IN A PHIL PROGRAM<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Are you a PHIL honours or joint honours student?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* Consider enrolling in <strong>PHIL 2010<\/strong> (Issues in Theoretical Philosophy) and <strong>PHIL 2020<\/strong> (Issues in Practical Philosophy).&nbsp; These are required courses for your degree.&nbsp; You have to take them at some point, and my suggestion is to do it sooner rather than later.&nbsp; They can help prepare you for a number of third-year courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* If you haven\u2019t yet taken <strong>PHIL 2001<\/strong> (logic) or <strong>PHIL 2003<\/strong> (critical thinking) you should consider registering for them this year.&nbsp; You will have to take one of these two to complete your degree.&nbsp; I highly recommend taking these early on in your philosophy degree, because they will help you prepare for your upper-year courses.&nbsp; If you are not sure which one you would prefer, feel free to email me, and we can chat about them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Are you a PHIL honours student?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>*PHIL honours students are required to take <strong>PHIL 2005<\/strong> (Greek Philosophy and the Western Tradition), which is a full-year class.&nbsp; I suggest taking this one this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>Are you a PHIL general major?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* If you haven\u2019t yet taken <strong>PHIL 2001<\/strong> (logic) or <strong>PHIL 2003<\/strong> (critical thinking) you should consider registering for them this year.&nbsp; These are required courses for your degree.&nbsp; If you haven\u2019t taken them, I strongly encourage you to enroll in them this year.&nbsp; You don\u2019t want to get to your fourth year and realize that you haven\u2019t taken these yet, and that they conflict with a seminar you really want to take!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* Have you fulfilled or are you coming close to fulfilling your \u201c<strong>Ethics, Society and Aesthetics<\/strong>\u201d and \u201c<strong>Language, Mind and World<\/strong>\u201d requirements? Do you know what these are? If not, let\u2019s chat! If you are not sure which courses fit into which categories, you can find the lists here: <a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.carleton.ca\/undergrad\/undergradprograms\/philosophy\/\">https:\/\/calendar.carleton.ca\/undergrad\/undergradprograms\/philosophy\/<\/a> &#8211; just scroll down a bit, and you will see the heading \u201cCourse Categories for Philosophy,\u201d where you can find drop-down menus of courses that fall under each category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* Joint honours students must take <strong>1.5 cr<\/strong> of PHIL classes in \u201c<strong>History of Philosophy<\/strong>.\u201d If you have any trouble selecting these courses, please come speak to me or email me, and I would be happy to advise you on your course selection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Are you a PHIL honours student?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* PHIL honours students are required to take <strong>PHIL 3002<\/strong> (17<sup>th<\/sup> century philosophy) and <strong>PHIL 3003<\/strong> (18<sup>th<\/sup> century philosophy).&nbsp; **We only offer these courses on alternating years.** &nbsp;PHIL 3002 will be offered in Winter 2021, and so it will <strong>NOT<\/strong> be offered in 2021-2022.&nbsp; If you have not yet taken PHIL 3002, and if you intend to graduate in 2021-2022, you <strong>must<\/strong> take it in Winter 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Are you a PHIL general major?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* General major students must take at least <strong>0.5 cr<\/strong> of PHIL at the <strong>third-year level<\/strong> or higher, and at least <strong>3.0 cr<\/strong> in PHIL at the <strong>second-year<\/strong> level or higher.&nbsp; Have you enrolled in a third-year class?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO APPLY FOR GRADUATION IN 2020-21: first, YAY, congratulations!!
