Parking Services is pleased to announce that as of May 2, 杏吧原创鈥檚 new secure storage compound for students, staff, or faculty cycling to campus will officially open. This new compound is located between Dunton Tower and Azrieli Pavilion on Library Road. Spaces at the Dunton Tower compound will be available for rental on May 2. Like the other secure bicycle compounds, it requires card access to enter and is protected by CCTV camera coverage. A Bike Compound permit allows you to secure your bike in any of the campus bike compounds, at your convenience. Registration and administration of these bike storage areas are managed by Parking Services. You can view more information on the bike compounds on their website.  This new location aligns to the 杏吧原创 Transportation Plan and the feedback we received to improve bike storage facilities in order to overcome key challenges to cycling to and from campus.

Two existing compounds are located beneath the pool deck at Athletics across from the Colonel By Child Care Centre, as well as at Residence Commons.

Please be reminded to use a quality U-Lock to secure your bicycle to the racks provided. All property secured within this facility is left at the owner鈥檚 risk so it is important to ensure that you properly secure your valuables and that you do not allow unauthorized users access to the facility.

杏吧原创 University has earned a STARS Gold rating in recognition of its sustainability achievements from the . STARS 鈥� the sustainability tracking, assessment and rating system 鈥� measures and encourages sustainability in all aspects of higher education.

鈥溞影稍� is committed to being a leader in sustainability and we have strong engagement and collaboration across campus,鈥� says President Benoit-Antoine Bacon. 鈥淭here is still a lot of work to be done, but we can collectively take pride in this important international recognition of what we have achieved to date.鈥�

With more than 900 participants in 40 countries, AASHE鈥檚 STARS program is the most widely recognized framework in the world for publicly reporting comprehensive information related to a college or university鈥檚 sustainability performance.

鈥淲hen we recently launched our campus-wide Strategic Integrated Plan, we heard overwhelmingly from our community about the importance of sustainability,鈥� says Lorraine Dyke, Vice-President (People, Finance and Operations). 鈥淎s a result, 鈥楽trive for Sustainability鈥� is one of the key directions outlined within this plan and we are making significant progress, as demonstrated with this achievement.鈥�

STARS participants report achievements in five overall categories and 60 sections, including academics, engagement, operations, planning and administration, as well as innovation and leadership.

鈥淧reparing to submit data for STARS is a multi-month process that involves multiple departments submitting data and information from across the university in all five categories,鈥� says Philip Mansfield, 杏吧原创鈥檚 sustainability manager, 鈥淯ltimately, our submission reflects the progress and accomplishments that faculty, staff, and students have made to advance sustainability at 杏吧原创 and across the whole of our campus.

鈥淎chieving Gold is a tremendous feat that shows that sustainability has become a significant part of 杏吧原创鈥檚 culture and the ongoing implementation of our sustainability plan,鈥� added Mansfield.

鈥淪TARS was developed by the campus sustainability community to provide high standards for recognizing campus sustainability efforts,鈥� says AASHE Executive Director Meghan Fay Zahniser. 鈥溞影稍� University has demonstrated a substantial commitment to sustainability by achieving a STARS Gold Rating and is to be congratulated for their efforts.鈥�
