Murty is an alum of the <a href=\"https:\/\/science.carleton.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Faculty of Science<\/a>, graduating with a bachelor degree focused on <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/math\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">mathematics<\/a>. A leading Canadian mathematician, Murty has been recognized for advancing \u201cknowledge in various mathematical fields, including analytic number theory.\u201d In addition to his contribution to mathematics, Murty is a prominent scholar of Indian philosophy and has served as a mentor to Indo-Canadian youth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Barbara Jean Perry<\/strong>, (PhD\/92), was named a member of the Order. Perry is an alum of the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fass\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences<\/a>, where she received her doctorate in <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/socanth\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sociology<\/a>. An internationally recognized expert on hate crime, Perry is the founding director of the Centre on Hate, Bias and Extremism. In addition to advancing scholarship in the field, her work and advocacy informs governments and community leaders, as well as supports victims of crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Michael Prince<\/strong>, (BAH\/75), was named a member of the Order. &nbsp;Prince is an alum of the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fpga\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Faculty of Public and Global Affairs<\/a>, where he studied <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sppa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">public administration<\/a>. Price was recognized for his significant contributions to advancing disability rights in Canada, advising different levels of Canadian government and serving on royal commissions. He is a noted mentor and advocate on issues of inclusion and accessibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Diane Sims<\/strong>, (BJ\/86, MJ\/90), was named a member of the Order. Sims is an alum of the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fpga\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Faculty of Public and Global Affairs<\/a>, where she earned both her bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s degrees in <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sjc\/journalism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">journalism<\/a>. A celebrated writer, Sims is a well-known accessibility advocate who has shared her experiences persevering \u201cthrough medical hardships and her personal journey with medical assistance in dying.\u201d Her publication, <em>An Ovarian Cancer Companion<\/em>, is distributed internationally. Becoming a member recognizes outstanding contributions at the local or regional level or in a special field of activity.
