{"id":78717,"date":"2021-08-24T15:38:27","date_gmt":"2021-08-24T19:38:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsroom.carleton.ca\/?p=78717"},"modified":"2025-08-19T09:36:22","modified_gmt":"2025-08-19T13:36:22","slug":"update-mandatory-vaccination-in-person-activities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/news\/2021\/update-mandatory-vaccination-in-person-activities\/","title":{"rendered":"Update on Mandatory Vaccination for 杏吧原创 In-Person Activities"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<section class=\"w-screen px-6 cu-section cu-section--white ml-offset-center md:px-8 lg:px-14\">\n    <div class=\"space-y-6 cu-max-w-child-5xl  md:space-y-10 cu-prose-first-last\">\n\n            <div class=\"cu-textmedia flex flex-col lg:flex-row mx-auto gap-6 md:gap-10 my-6 md:my-12 first:mt-0 max-w-5xl\">\n        <div class=\"justify-start cu-textmedia-content cu-prose-first-last\" style=\"flex: 0 0 100%;\">\n            <header class=\"font-light prose-xl cu-pageheader md:prose-2xl cu-component-updated cu-prose-first-last\">\n                                    <h1 class=\"cu-prose-first-last font-semibold !mt-2 mb-4 md:mb-6 relative after:absolute after:h-px after:bottom-0 after:bg-cu-red after:left-px text-3xl md:text-4xl lg:text-5xl lg:leading-[3.5rem] pb-5 after:w-10 text-cu-black-700 not-prose\">\n                        Update on Mandatory Vaccination for 杏吧原创 In-Person Activities\n                    <\/h1>\n                \n                                \n                            <\/header>\n\n                    <\/div>\n\n            <\/div>\n\n    <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n<p>Key Messages:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>杏吧原创 will be requiring mandatory vaccination against COVID-19 for all in-person university activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Individuals must attest to receiving their first dose of vaccine by September 8, 2021.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More information on how to provide proof of vaccination will be communicated at a later date.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>August 24, 2021<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result of the <a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.ymaws.com\/www.alphaweb.org\/resource\/collection\/D927A028-023E-4413-B438-86101BEFB7B7\/COMOH_Vaccine_Policies_at_Ontario_Universities_and_Colleges_260821.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">recent strong recommendation of the Council of Ontario Medical Officers of Health (COMOH)<\/a>, which represents all 34 public health units across the Province, 杏吧原创 University along with all post-secondary institutions in Ontario, will be requiring mandatory vaccination against COVID-19 for all individuals (students, staff, faculty, contractors, and visitors) involved in any in-person 杏吧原创 activities both on- and off-campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result, all individuals who are coming on to campus <strong>must attest to receiving their first dose vaccine by September 8, 2021, and their second dose no later than October 15, 2021.<\/strong> Health and Counselling Services is now offering <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/health\/covid-19-vaccination-appointment-booking\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">vaccination clinics<\/a> on campus with Pfizer vaccines on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays until October 7, 2021. Drop-in vaccinations are also available at any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ottawapublichealth.ca\/en\/public-health-topics\/covid-19-vaccine.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">community clinic, pop-up clinic, or neighbourhood vaccination hub in Ottawa<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All those participating in in-person activities at 杏吧原创 will be required to upload their Vaccine Dose Administration Receipts or equivalent document(s) that provide proof of vaccination through <a href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/covid19\/cuscreen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">cuScreen<\/a> by the deadlines referenced above. Accordingly, please note that reporting vaccination status is not required to access campus prior to September 8, 2021. More information on how to provide proof of vaccination will be communicated at a later date. Any false information or misrepresentation on the mandatory attestation form is a violation of university policy that will be taken very seriously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Any individual who cannot be vaccinated on medical grounds or other protected grounds recognized by the Ontario Human Rights Code can&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/covid19\/health-and-safety\/covid-19-vaccines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">request an exemption<\/a>. All individuals who are unvaccinated due to permitted exemptions or who are awaiting their second dose are required to adhere to additional health and safety measures, including frequent rapid testing. Unvaccinated individuals without an approved permitted exemption will not be able to attend campus or any University activity in person. 杏吧原创 community members with approved permitted exemptions will be able to book a mandatory rapid testing appointment through cuScreen. Rapid testing will be required within 72 hours before participating in an in-person activity at 杏吧原创 and more details will be communicated at a later date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vaccination against COVID-19 is the single most effective public heath measure to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Its inclusion among the other public health measures (including physical distancing and capacity limits, and indoor mask use) is essential in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. We will continue to work closely with public health officials and will continue to adapt as their recommendations evolve.
