In honour of Holocaust Education Month, 杏吧原创 University\u2019s Max and Tessie Zelikovitz Centre for Jewish Studies<\/a> will hold a pop-up museum and the public lecture Let the Artifacts Speak: Returning Humanity to Holocaust Victims <\/em>presented by Dr. Robert Ehrenreich of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This event is co-hosted with the Temple Israel Religious School, Ottawa Jewish Archive and the Centre for Holocaust Education and Scholarship<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pop-Up Museum<\/u><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When<\/strong>: Sunday, Nov. 4, 12:30 p.m to 4 p.m. and Monday, Nov. 5, 6:30 p.m.to 7:15 p.m.

The enormity of the tragedy of the Holocaust is overwhelming. Personal objects allow us to remember those who suffered and learn about their history by focusing on individual stories. At this pop-up museum, local Ottawa families will share stories of their family\u2019s experience of the Holocaust through objects. Local survivors, children of survivors and scholars will be on-hand to speak to visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Public Lecture<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When<\/strong>: Monday, Nov. 5, at 7:30 p.m.
\nWhere<\/strong>: Temple Israel, 1301 Prince of Wales Dr., Ottawa
\nInfo<\/strong>: The lecture is suitable for adults and mature teens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Six million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust. This number is staggering and is the equivalent of almost seven times Ottawa\u2019s population. How can the magnitude of this crime be represented without reducing the victims to mere numbers? In this lecture, Ehrenreich will use three case studies to discuss how personal items can turn huge numbers of victims back into individuals and return their humanity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
