\n 杏吧原创 to Host Youth-Led Shaking the Movers Forum on Disabilities for the Inclusive Early Childhood Service System Project\n <\/h1>\n \n \n <\/header>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n

杏吧原创 University\u2019s Landon Pearson Centre for the Study of Childhood and Children’s Rights<\/a> will host Shaking the Movers<\/a><\/em> a gathering of 50 young people from across Canada with disabilities, disability experiences or who are deaf. Shaking the Movers<\/em> is the youth advisory group for the Inclusive Early Childhood Service System Project<\/a> (IECSS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event will hold a forum attended by senators, government officials, researchers, policy-makers, parents, and others to understand youth perspectives on living with disabilities and deafness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Media are invited to attend the forum event.<\/strong>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shaking the Movers<\/em> is youth-led and youth-driven workshop created by the Landon Pearson Centre. Using a rights\u2010based approach, it creates a space for young people to \u201chave the floor\u201d on issues and provide their ideas, perspectives and concerns to decision-makers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These perspectives will be incorporated into a research project about disability as experienced by children, the adults who support them and the professionals who work with them. Shaking the Movers<\/em> will help inform assessments of accessibility issues that youth confront and how these barriers influence those in rural areas who are lacking resources. The project is funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
