This event seeks to understand the experiences of women who are raising black young men in contemporary Canadian societies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ottawa discussion will take place simultaneously with talks in Montreal and Toronto. This format will assist in understanding the development of black masculinity from anglophone and francophone perspectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When<\/strong>: Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.<br>\n<strong>Where<\/strong>: Cultural Arts Studio, 40 Colonnade Road, Ottawa<br>\n<strong>Info<\/strong>: This event is full. However, a livestream of the event will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=VhIASaUzd2s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">be available online<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Media are invited to attend the event.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This series explores how young black men socially construct their masculinities in a Canadian context. The event seeks to disrupt social norms, anti-black racism and negative stereotypes in Canada which impede the upward mobility of black men. Building on a previous dialogue about black Canadian masculinities, the series encourages positive social outcomes for black men and boys, and their community members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interested members of the public are invited to complete <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/forms\/ezELZMm0vWTKCYwu1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an online survey<\/a> in advance of the discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"about-the-barbershop-talk-series\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">杏吧原创 the Barbershop Talk Series<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Barbershop Talk Series is a social event that uses the &#8220;Barbershop&#8221; as a place to meet and collaborate about issues that concern the community, particularly black men and boys.
