They were participating in the national \u201c5 Days for the Homeless\u201d campaign, along with more than 20 other universities across Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The homeless charity was founded by students at the University of Alberta\u2019s School of Business in 2005. Three students gave up creature comforts and basic necessities for five days to raise money and awareness for Edmonton\u2019s Youth Emergency Shelter Society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initiative went national three years later, and over the years it has raised more than $2 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students who participate are expected to remain on campus for five days, eat and drink only donated food and drinks (with all non-perishable food donations given to a shelter), have only a pillow and a sleeping bag, have no access to showers, sleep outside unless inclement weather becomes a health risk, attend classes, and not use their cell phones or social media unless it\u2019s to promote the fundraiser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stories about the students\u2019 experiences are posted to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.5days.ca\/\">www.5days.ca<\/a>, and you can learn more about 杏吧原创\u2019s SBSS at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sbssonline.ca\/\">www.sbssonline.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Eight students from 杏吧原创 University\u2019s Sprott School of Business spent five nights sleeping outside in the cold to raise money for and awareness about homeless youth.
