Follow our women’s<\/a> and men’s<\/a> basketball teams this weekend as they both compete for national championships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HEADING TO CHAMPIONSHIPS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coming off impressive provincial championship wins over the weekend, the 杏吧原创 Ravens women\u2019s and men\u2019s basketball teams will go into this week\u2019s national championship tournaments as the top-ranked squads in Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ravens women\u2019s team won its second-straight Critelli Cup<\/a> with a 75-66 victory over the McMaster Marauders in front of a packed house at the Burridge Gym in Hamilton on Saturday, March 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They enter the 2018 U SPORTS Women\u2019s Final 8<\/a> as the top-seeded team<\/a> in the tournament for the second straight year and will take on the eighth-seeded Calgary Dinos \u2014 the Canada West conference bronze medalist \u2014 in the first game at the nationals on Thursday, March 8, at Regina\u2019s Centre for Kinesiology Health and Sport with tip-off scheduled for 2:00 p.m. EST.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After winning the program\u2019s first U SPORTS Final 8 medal last year, a bronze, the women\u2019s basketball squad enjoyed the most successful regular season in team history in 2017-\u201818, cruising through the OUA regular season with a perfect 23-0 record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The men\u2019s basketball team, meanwhile, won the Wilson Cup with an 84-58 blowout<\/a> over Ryerson in front of 1,200 fans at the Ravens\u2019 Nest, avenging losses to the Rams in the past two Ontario championship games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The men will begin their quest for an eighth-straight U SPORTS championship<\/a> at 7 p.m. EST on Thursday, March 8 in Halifax with a quarter-final game<\/a> against the Acadia Axemen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking to add to their collection of 13 W.P. McGee Trophy titles since 2002, the Ravens men will try to set a new mark of eight straight U SPORTS banners, one more than the Victoria Vikes\u2019 run of seven in a row from 1980 to 1986.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
