The 杏吧原创 Initiative for Parliamentary and Diplomatic Engagement <\/strong><\/a>will host Promoting Democracy Abroad: What Role for Canadian Legislators?  <\/em>in partnership with the all-party Democracy Caucus. Guests attending the special panel and reception will include parliamentarians, diplomats and stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There will be remarks by Members of Parliament who have recently formed the Democracy Caucus, including Chair Anita Vandenbeld, vice-chairs Elizabeth May and Kennedy Stewart, and Randy Hoback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The panel will begin with a presentation by Jean-Paul Ruszkowski, chief executive officer of the Parliamentary Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Topics to be discussed will include whether Canada should do more to support democracies through international development assistance; how parliaments can make progress for greater political participation of women; the role of social media and technology in strengthening democratic governance; and lessons Canadian parliaments and legislators can exchange with their international counterparts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
